During July and August in neighbouring Montisi, families return from the towns where they now live, and there are frequent village entertainments (including wonderful open air meals prepared by the local families) where everyone is welcome. Activity peaks with the annual Festa of the Joust in the first week of August. There are antique markets every weekend in one or other of the many surrounding villages & an extraordinary supermarket in Sinalunga (20 mins away) will delight non-Italian speakers.
The house, built on 2 floors, has 2 double bedrooms and can sleep a maximum of 6: 1 king size bed & 2 twin beds on the lower floor & 2 comfy sleep couches by the sitting-room fire above. There is a large, fully-equipped, dining room/kitchen, a large living room with big open fire-place & 2 bathrooms, one on each floor. There is a large terrace catching the sun all day, a shady pergola and a barbecue. The house is tastefully furnished, with antique, local farmhouse furniture and built-in, foam-covered couches round the fire. The outstanding feature of La Fornacina is its peaceful position, high up-with an amazing panoramic view & the extraordinary garden, over an acre of the most beautiful mixture of flowers & trees.
